Shift to a plant-based whole foods diet dear Diabetes patients!

diabetes plant-based reverse illness whole foods May 29, 2019

By now, we have evidence enough to know that the best remedy for Diabetes 2 is a healthier lifestyle. How come so little medical doctors are prescribing a plant-based whole foods diet but are prescribing insulin and pills? I remember that just a little less than 10 years ago, I adopted a full vegan diet, initially not for myself, but to show my parents who were both diabetes 2 patients that they could reverse illness by diet. We were about to spent 2 weeks of holidays together, and I went cold turkey to a 100% vegan for 2 weeks. And even after. I had read the book of Dr. Neil Barnard, and learned about his program to reverse diabetes without drugs. Published about 12 years ago. Thousands of studies followed. Many patients of Dr. Michael Greger, Dr. Dean Ornish and Dr Neal Barnard to name a few followed a plant-based whole foods diet, and DID reverse diabetes 2. And felt better than ever. Interesting it seems, that in 2019, insulin and pills are still prescribed to almost all diabetes 2 patients, despite all the studies. Not only because the medication only slows progression, and does not reverse the illness at all, like a plant-based diet can. But more shocking, because about 2 million people die annually because of diabetes. Die. Can we understand that as human to human? Die, because we eat a non-plant based, non-whole food diet? And instead we take medication and slowly……die?

I would like to shift a little bit of energy within you today. Energy of Health awareness. Please allow me. First of all, if you are a diabetes patient, please, please have a look at the massive amounts of books that have been written, for instance pick up a copy of Dr. Gregers’ ‘How not to Die’ book from last year, or the one of Dr. Ornish ‘Undo IT’, published last month. Why? Well, it improves your life drastically and it can save your life. Reverse illness by adopting a plant-based whole foods lifestyle. You will feel better in weeks! Secondly, if you are a diabetes patient or you are not, please help our society by being open for new options. Stepping out of the habitual food patterns. Accepting or even praising others who do. Over twenty years I live a vegetarian lifestyle, and the past 5 years I moved to a plant-based whole foods lifestyle. Now even today, I have to explain and explain why. Why I do not just adapt to the majority, just fit in and eat meat at social occasions. I sometimes feel some acceptance, but even at the family dinners time and again I get remarks about me being the plant-eater. I see and experience myself that there is a lot of social pressure to fit in with the regular eaters. At minimum, please, stop judging those who choose health on their terms.

Most of the restaurants offer limited options, and instead of adapting to the non-plant based menu, we cȧn keep asking and asking. The more the demand, the more the supply we will get in supermarkets and restaurants. That’s the rule. Even when you are not a plant-based whole foods eater at this time, and maybe you are fully healthy, help those who can be helped by a healthier lifestyle and help the planet. Help make the mindshift that diabetes, as many other chronic diseases reverses with a plant-based whole foods lifestyle. And ultimately, it is a key to prevent illness as well. So help make this shift: prepare plant-based whole foods at socials, help to increase the availability of these foods, at work, in restaurants, parcs, wherever, and help motivate others to work on their health. Shift your energy to help others to reverse their chronic illness, help yourself to a better health. You are worth it! Our planet is grateful. Thanks for caring.
